Early Season Service Pick-up & Delivery Special

Spring is here and we know how antsy you are to get riding again! Now is the perfect time to get your annual tuneup. Your bike’s probably been sitting around since the fall and it needs some love. Last season, we did a blog post called, “Why Tuneup?”

Your poor bike has been accumulating rust and dust, the enemies of smooth shifting and safe braking. Let us get her back into dependable riding shape.

Standard tune-ups cost $75; we adjust brakes, gears + derailleur; perform a minor (on-bike) wheel true; lube and check chain; check and tighten crank & headset; and wipe down the frame and wheels. If your bike needs more or less love than that, we are very honest and transparent about what needs to be done.

Is getting your bike to the shop a royal pain in the keister? We got you! Through April 14, we are running a special where we will come pick up your bike and deliver it after service for no additional charge. (NB: This discount applies to Detroit, Highland Park, and Hamtramck addresses. Regular delivery fees can be found HERE.)

To get scheduled, fill out the form HERE or send an email to kelli@wheelhousedetroit.com.

Pre-Spring Tune-up Special!

Through the first day of Spring -- March 20 -- Wheelhouse will be offering our Standard Tune-up for just $35 (Reg. $50).

What's a tune-up? It's a procedure that will get your bike into tip-top shape for the riding season. It includes the adjustment of gears and derailleur; minor (on-bike) wheel true; lube; and we will check/tighten the crank and headset.

We will also offer a commensurate savings of 30% off our Tune-up Plus and Total Overhaul Services!

Tune-up PlusStandard Tune-up + full (off-bike) wheel true + clean bottom bracket and both derailleurs: Reg. $75

Total Overhaul = Tune-up Plus + all parts: Reg. $175

Besides saving a ton of dough, getting your bike in for its annual service now means that it will be available every single time those nice days appear while they are still rare and far between. Plus, turn around times are quick this time of year: if no parts need to be ordered we can typically have your bike back to you the very next day!

No appointment necessary! Just bring your bike by the Hamtramck shop and we'll go over everything with you, check it in and call you when the work is complete! It's that simple. We're open 5 days a week: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 11am - 7pm and Thursday 1 - 9pm.

If getting the bike here is an obstacle, we can arrange pickup and/or delivery! Email us HERE to get it set up.

More info about our service department and staff can be found HERE.

August E-Blast, feat. Detroit Bikes Launch

We can't believe it is already August! This summer has been rolling by at a racing pace, but we wanted to take a quick minute to fill you in on some Wheelhouse happenings. Remember, we are here for you seven-days-a-week: Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

RETAIL

We couldn't be more thrilled to be the local purveyor of the Detroit-manufactured Detroit Bikes. The commuter A-Type, pictured, is launching into the universe with a party at The Old Miami this Friday, 8/16, from 4 to 8 PM, featuring a performance by the Detroit Cobras.

The minimalist bike has three-speed internal gears, a lightweight chromoly-steel frame and a durable, matte-black powder-coat finish. Detroit Bikes manufactures each of its frames from steel tubing cut, coped, welded and painted in its 50,000 square-foot factory on Detroit's westside. The company also builds wheels and manufactures the bike's rear rack and chain guard on-site. It retails for $550, a significant fact because a mass-produced American-made bike at a modest price point is something that hasn't been in existence since the Reagan era. So this is pretty awesome.

We'll have ten bikes for sale at the launch party, and are also taking deposits for the next shipment. To receive an email with details about the shipment schedule and making a deposit, email info@wheelhousedetroit.com.

We will continue to carry the following brands and products: Sun cruisers, comfort hybrids & adult trikes; Origin 8 urban commuters & folding bikes; Kona hybrids & cyclocross; and the classically-styled Brooklyn Cruiser. Plus, tires, helmets, auto racks, bike racks, frame & floor pumps, tools, lights, water bottles & bottle cages, bags, locks, pedals, bells, handlebar grips & tape, tubes, baskets...and if we don't have what you are seeking, we'd be happy to help you pick something out. We have a wide range of distributors that we work with, and a quick turn-around on special orders.
