This Weekend @ The Wheelhouse
Don't forget the Colin Hubbell Memorial Ride on Saturday! Register here or show up at 8:30 a.m. at Scott Fountain on Belle Isle! It is River Days, which is good and bad.
The good: Our rentals are 33% off -- so a 2-hour rental will cost you just $10 instead of $15.
The bad: Parking can be an issue. For service drop-offs and pick-ups, drive straight down Rivard, on the garage door side of our shop. For rentals, you're going to have to pony up and pay for parking in one of the structures in the area. The closest one to us is at the NW corner of Atwater & Rivard. Spittin' distance. If you have any issues, give us a ring at 313-656-2453!
Finally, we are thrilled to announce some early info about this year's Tour de Troit. Pre-registration will kick off on July 1 at the T-Plex at 5:30 p.m. followed by a 10-mile ride that will end up at Comerica City Fest! Read all the deets here.
If only in Detroit...
You don't need to understand Japanese to get this video. If only bells had such power on the Detroit RiverWalk! [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnL4fjMzsSU]
Popscycle
If you've never checked out Sweet Juniper, you should. It's a great slice-of-life blog about a family that lives in Lafayette Park. We've gotten to know them pretty good (in a regular customer kind of way) this season as they've taken to biking with gusto. You must read their post about the incredible Popsycle bike. It is beyond adorable.

Closure for Red Bull
Reminder: We are closed Satuday and Sunday, June 13 & 14 for the Red Bull Air Races. We'll miss you!
Adieu, Adieu!
Wheelhouse would like to wish a fond farewell to two of our favorite people at the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, Bill Bohlen and Caroline Marks. Bill, the operations director for the DRFC was our go-to guy with any questions or problems, and Caroline did so much to help get the word out about our new business. We wish you both the best and insist that you come visit regularly. We'll miss you!
Win free bike rentals!
Channel 4's "Free Friday" is giving away a Riverfront Package that includes 4 free 2-hour bike rentals. Enter for a chance to win here.

Blessing of Bikes
This Sunday, Spirit of Hope Church in N. Corktown is hosting the first annual blessing of the bikes (well, and motorcycles) at their 11 a.m. service. It's located at 1519 Martin Luther King Jr., Blvd. at the intersection of Grand River and Trumbull.

Movement Fest Discount + Closed Memorial Day
Take a break from the breaks! This weekend, anyone with a Movement wristband gets a $5 break off a 2-hour rental. It'll run you just $10. And we are closed Memorial Day -- that's Monday, May 25. Sunday & Tuesday pick-up & drop-offs of bikes can be arranged.
That's all!
Ride of Silence Recap
It was a wonderful Ride of Silence last night from Belle Isle to Downtown and back. About 225 cyclists turned out to celebrate cycling, draw attention to "Sharing the Road" and honor cyclists that have been injured or killed by motorists when cycling. Many thanks to event chair Steve Roach of the League of Michigan Bicyclists and to Macomb Cycle & Fitness for the post-ride bar-b-que.
