Give the Gift of History + Cycling With A Tour Gift Certificate
If you’ve got a cyclist and/or a history buff on your shopping list, consider a tour gift certificate!
Tours start at $35 per rider, so a one or two person gift certificate is an affordable present that combines the ease of web shopping with all the benefits of shopping local.
We offer over 20 unique tour experiences. Some are geography-oriented — Corktown, Hamtramck, Southwest Detroit — while others are thematic: public art, architecture, haunted Detroit, auto heritage.
Head right over HERE to purchase; an email can be sent to the giftee on the date of your choosing with a personalized message.
One more option: Private tours are $200 for 1 to 6 riders. If you’d like to pre-pay for a private tour for which the lucky recipient will be able to select the tour and the date at their convenience, email us at bookings@wheelhousedetroit.com.
More info about our private tours can be found HERE.
Wheelhouse Winter Calendar
Sure, business slows down for us in the Winter, but that just gives us time to host classes and special events. Check out our calendar!
Small Business Saturday in Hamtramck...& at the Wheelhouse!
While the media and Amazon are all about talking Black Friday and Cyber Monday, we hope that you are planning out your awesome Small Business Saturday on November 30.
Small businesses pay local taxes and invest in your community in so many ways: from sponsoring local events to participating in local civic organizations to employing your neighbors. As we learn more and more about how giant corporations are gaming the system and paying so little into our crumbling infrastructure — that they make use of! — not to mention our schools and so much more, we hope your instincts are turning to keeping your dollars more and more right here in town!
The City of Hamtramck has put together a program to showcase all of the amazing shopping, food, and drink opportunities for you right here in Hamtown. Participants will be entered into a raffle as well.
You can pick up a passport at 4 locations (Wheelhouse, Oloman, Tekla, Polish Art Center) beginning on November 22, and present it on SmallBizSat at any of the participating locations for some real savings! There’s vintage and imports, specialty chocolates and baked goods, bags and apparel, and, of course, booze and meat.
Wheelhouse will be offering 15% off all new bikes on the floor, including BMX, cruisers, hybrids, and more. Our new bike selection can be found HERE.
15% off all winter outdoor wear, including hats, socks, gloves, and more.
Gift Card Special: Spend $20, get a $25 gift card. Spend $40, get a $50 gift card. Spend $85, get a $100 gift card!
All customers that spend $50 and over will be entered to win a Chrome Industries backpack (value 100$)
75% off all William & Bonnie cycling apparel: riding ponchos, pants, skirts, and dresses made in Hamtramck.
Check out the attached fliers for more details and feel free to reach out with any questions to info@wheelhousedetroit.com.
Hope to see you on November 30!

Wheelhouse Is Named One of America's Best Bike Shops!
The National Bicycle Dealers Association has released its list of America’s Best Bike Shops for 2019, and we are ecstatic to announce that both locations of Wheelhouse made the cut!
For Rivertown, it’s the 5th year running and, for Hamtramck, it was our first year applying and so we are pretty stoked to see it be so designated for the first time.
The application process required us to outline our processes, document our community commitment, and — perhaps most importantly — be secret shopped. Both locations were called, emailed, and visited by an anonymous shopper and each interaction is rated. What makes all of this especially helpful to Wheelhouse, as a business always striving to improve, is that we receive a copy of the secret shopper’s reports, enabling us to take their comments and build them into a constructive critique so we can do even better in the future.
We would also like to congratulate our fellow Michigan shops on the list: Pedal in Kalamazoo and Portage, ACF in Macomb, Fraser Bicycle in Fraser, McLain in Traverse City, and Macomb Bicycle in Warren. As the holidays approach, we encourage anyone in the market for cycling equipment and bicycles to shop local. These are the shops that you can trust with your repairs and to support your local charity rides. Amazon and big box stores, not so much. Buy Where You Ride!

Thanks from the Owner
As our 12th Season on the Riverfront comes to a close, I wanted to take an opportunity to thank all the wonderful customers that keep us so busy! One of my favorite things about the Wheelhouse is the diversity of our customers; we see everyone from native Detroiters to newer city dwellers to suburbanites to folks from all over the country and the world. We LOVE Detroit and helping people Experience the Motor City on Two Wheels is our privilege and passion.
We look forward to a lucky season number 13 at Cullen Plaza beginning in April 2020!
I would also like to thank my fantastic staff, who deliver stellar customer service waaaaay more often than not! It can be a tough job with a wide variety of interactions, and there is a lot to know about bikes and Detroit and I am so proud of the work they do. It can be difficult to staff a seasonal business and I feel truly lucky to have the crew that I do working at the Wheelhouse.
Finally, people often ask me what I do over the winter. “Work less, sleep more!” is my typical answer — and that is certainly true. But myself and our amazing general manager, Tatiana, also spend a lot of time plotting to make our next season happen. We will be planning tours and events and you can find us at the Hamtramck shop as well. Feel free to keep in touch by swinging by and/or shoot us an email at info@wheelhousedetroit.com.
With sincere gratitude,
Kelli
