Detroit was an important station on the Underground Railroad, and the final American stop prior to freedom across the River in Canada for many escaped slaves. Stops include the Underground Railroad memorial sculpture on the Detroit RiverWalk, historic Second Baptist Church, and First Congregational Church. We will also visit the Doorway to Freedom Underground Railroad exhibition at the Detroit Historical Museum.
